Hey guys,

Do any of you have 3.5" slug loads lying around you could tell me the overall length of, unfired?

I ordered Fiocchi 3.5" hulls for slug loading, and I'm not really sure exactly where I should be roll crimping them to. I know there is room for variance, but I'm not sure if it should be near 2.7", 2.8", 3" etc.

Thanks

It should be whatever the loading data you are using calls for.

Whatever wad column length & wad seating pressure called for in the data determines how much roll crimp is needed to retain the slug.

Alternately, a 2 3/4" roll-crimp slug or buckshot finishes at 2 1/2", so you could add 3/4" to that I suppose.

Thanks rcmodel.

I have pressure transducer data from 3" test loads sent in which are using very heavy bullets near 1040gr. So yes I do have data, just not OALs in 3.5" hulls. I am putting them in 3.5" hulls simply because that is the chamber length in my gun.
