Neighbor called with a hog problem. Game cam showed hogs coming in to his feeder at 2:00 am. So I came out and checked his place in the afternoon to find out where his feeder was and discovered rooting all over his property. So I figured I would hunt my place until maybe midnight and head over to his place and be there before the hogs showed up.

Six hours at my place yielded nothing despite the fact that I did have hogs coming in at various times the last few days. I left my place at 11:30 and headed over to my neighbor's. I walked across his property and various fields to the field next to the feeder and saw only horses and cattle.

While in the last field (planted in winter wheat) and looking for a good place to set up and watch the feeder area, I spied hogs coming in. I was caught out in the open and so set up to shoot from a kneeling position, hoping they would not notice me. Then the hogs spread out and I realized I could not swing far enough to shoot the ones on the ends and so I stood up, risking being seen in the light of the night.

While I was hopeful, there wasn't ever going to be much shooting. After the first shot, hogs needed only 3-4 seconds to reach cover, but that didn't happen...

Good stuff! Nice shooting! Is that a Jaegerhunde?

LOL, the little bitty dog? That is the landowner's dog. He accompanied me as I toured the property. He has more energy than an F-16 and is nearly as fast. I believe he is a Miniature Pincher. Cool little guy. He chased the cattle out of our way when I walked through the property.

Pity... probably some great smoked pork butt/BBQ on them suckers. But I imagine lots of them are sick or infested or whatever.

Good job, sir. We also kill as many as we can and feed the buzzards with them. My purpose isn't sporting but rather to destroy every pig I find on my property. Double Naught does a better job though. :D

Have killed dozens of wild hogs, and have never seen a sick or infested one. IMHO they are waaay better than factory pork from the store, as long as you clean them promptly in the field and cook it right, i.e. slow and low temp.

DNS—nice shooting.

We kill about 30-40 a year and make breakfast sausage or chorizo from the 80-100 pounders and donate the rest to families. Great eating you just have to add pork fat to them as they are more lean than farm raised hogs.
