I think it is a turkey with a dog print superimposed on it. There aren't many 3 toed critters around here except turkeys.

I found this track a couple of summers ago. It had been there about 100 million years.

Wild-eyed speculation: A dog which "mostly" escaped from a trap, having left a toe behind.

I offer that because a dog of mine was once caught in a trap by just a toe. I managed to find and rescue him before he tore loose...

That's a three toed Chupacabra, not to be confused with the spotted Chupacabra, nor the Lesser Chupacabra.

Yes, of course. But if we determine it was a three-toed chup, that still leaves the mystery open. Was it a brown three-toed, or a black three-toed. Given the nominal variance in their sizes, we'll never really know (unless the OP can get a daylight photo of the track maker).

That's the track from a blizzard lizard - its on the same evolutionary limb as the snow snake and ice mice. They evolved in order to survive the perils of extreme cold weather, and have been able to survive for hundreds of years due to their unique blood type, which is known by its scientific name Prestoneius Nofreeziius. While a closely guarded industry secret, certain companies milk these lizards and package the product in bright yellow jugs, advocating that the contents be used in automotive radiators.
