Picked up a nice Remington 141 today (will post pictures later) it's a .30 Remington. Now for some dies and cases. Anybody happen to have some lying around? Thanks.
Buffalo Arms lists brass. $46 per 100. $75.49 for Redding dies. Uses an RCBS #19 shell holder. No compatabilty with any other cartridge.
I have data if you want it. [email protected]
The Remington Model 14, later the 141 was a popular deer hunting alternative to the Winchester M94 back in the 1930's and through to 1960. .30 Remington is ballistically very close to .30-30. Maybe the more popular caliber for those Remington pumps was the bigger .35 Remington because it was the better brush or heavy woods hunting caliber, punching through light branches and foliage without very much deflection. In any case the Winchester levergun wasn't available in a similar caliber until the Model 71, I don't think.
They're kinda' neat rifles but they are complicated guns with many small parts that makes the rifle expensive to repair even in it's heyday. Now it's probably difficult to find anyone wanting to work on them if needed.
My father used one in .35 Remington for years, and he cursed it during many of those years. He used to bring home his deer every year though...
I have two boxes of vintage 20 count Remington 150 gr FMJ I got with a trade but no reloading stuff. Was going to sell on G/B this fall but if you are interested?
I have 60 or 80 pieces of Remington brass. It would be a little work though, as it was expanded to make some .32 Remington. I may have some unaltered .30 laying about as well. FWIW, Lee loaders are marked .30-30 / .30 Remington.
I may have the RCBS shell holder as well. I'll have to check, as alot of my reloading equipment disappeared in the last move. In fact I found the .38-55 shell holder in the press, and the dies are nowhere to be found...
