does anyone have any experience loading 308win with H4350? i'm currently using sierra 168mk pushed by imr4895(45gr) and getting 2750fps+/-. i'm being told from a friend to switch to sierra 175mk and to use H4350 (we're setting up loads for 1000yd - hoping for a Camp Perry trip next year). load is for a Rem700SA. i'm getting 0.7MOA group at 100yd with the 4895 now with hopes of getting that down under 0.5MOA.

thanks!

4350 is on the slow side for a 308. If it was me I would stick with 4895 since you seem to be getting good results. Whichever load you end up with, good luck at Camp Perry!

For the 175's, most people seem to be using Varget or 4064. Most final loads for 175 are 44 - 45gr Varget, depending on barrel. I know you didn't ask, but a better 1000-yard bullet for 308 is the 155 Lapua Scenar (with Varget again or RL15).

As the others have mentioned, H4350 is too slow for the bullet weights you mentioned. If you want to use H4350, I would consider the 190SMK bullet. If you can drive them at 2600+fps and don't mind the extra recoil, they are a good choice.

AGREED!

4350 is too slow except in heavy bullets for the .308.

I'm sure those other folks had good experience with various extruded powders. In my humble experience, W748, AA2460 and W760 have provided good results with bullets like the 168 Match King.

I HAVE had good results with 4350 with 180/200s in .30-'06 and 300s in the .375 Hollands' Magnum.

So it goes!

thanks for the replys. my friend is using the 4350 in his 6.5x284 and getting great results - hence the reason he suggested switching.

however, after very little checking i'm definitely liking the looks of the Lapua Scenar 155 with Varget. much better BC, lighter bullet too. i think i'll go ahead and match it up with some nice Lapua brass also (since i have to place an order at Midway anyway). should be able to get some good results once i start playing with the loads. we're headed to Quantico tomorrow and it will by my first 1000yd experience. should be interesting!
