I've worked up a load for my Standard SA M1A which consists of Win 147FMJBT bullets, WRA 68 cases, 42.6 grains of surplus IMR4895, and CCI#34 primers, I'm getting a hair over 2800 FPS at 5 feet from the muzzle. at 100yards I'm getting 5shot groups vome in at just under 2inches.

Now my quesiton. I can get 1,500 pulled M80 ball bullets for $100+ shipping from hitech. I was wondering if any of you think that I'll get a significant reduction in accuracy by using the surplus bullets?

I've loaded a good bit of both the Win 147s and pulled Mil-surp bullets for my M1A and I can't say I've noticed any real difference in their looks or in how they shoot

I got good groups with Win 147 grain FMJBT over runs when I shot NRA Highpower with my M1a. Also good accuracy in my M1.

Some groups were sub MOA for three shots at 200 yards.
I still have some around and plan to load some more rounds with them soon.

Surplus Bullets.

I'm thinking that the surplus bullets are the same ones loaded in GI Ammo, so 2 inches is about all the accuracy you can expect from them. I think that is about the accuracy standard for US ordinance ammo. I load them and shoot them out of my 30 cal. rifles and they do about the same as you have experienced. Still for practice or plinking ammo they work great for me. :)

I've got the same materials a while back with once fired Grade 1
GI once fired cases. Using 4895 and putting my grandson to work
sorted cases by manufacture and later weighing the bullets and
grouping them puts groups at a shade over 1 1/2. Unsorted right
around 2" at 100 yds. Cases and bullets were from Blue Press.:)
