Finally was able to get a solo trip to the range with a chrono to run some data on loads I've made up. In particular I wanted to run some of them through the Henry rifle (20 inch). Not just for the data but to see how the .32 H&R cycled.

I brought 4 guns...the Henry rifle with 20 inch barrel. A Keltec PMR30 in .22 mag. A 4.5 inch Ruger Single Six in .32 H&R Mag and a 5.5 inch Single Seven in .327 Federal Mag.

I was curious what the recently purchased Keltec PMR30 would chrono so I put a few WMRHP+V 30 grainers down range for an average FPS of 1,482. The PMR30 ejects the empties into the next time zone :scrutiny:.

In the Henry I had jams with the 32 H&R Hornady XTP 85 grain/.312 dia. I only had one each time in the mag but they wouldn't cycle. Not sure what they were getting hung up on as I was under an aluminum awning and the light wasn't very good for me to be able to see into the action.

I then shot some .32 H&R 115 grain RNFP, .314 Dia, in twice used Starline Brass with a CCI 500 primer and #9 powder. That load averaged 1,438 FPS through the rifle and 1,102 FPS through the Single Six. The Single Seven managed 1,118 FPS with the same load. The load cycled flawlessly in the Henry

The factory American Eagle .327 FM 100gr JSP clocked out of the Henry Rifle at an impressive average 2,076 FPS for a 6 shot string. All loaded one at a time into the chamber.

My .327 FM load comprised of a 100 grain XTP-CCI 500-New Federal Brass and 2400 Powder clocked at 2,021 average for a 6 shot string out of the Henry rifle. Primers looked good and empties ejected effortlessly.

I then ran the 100 grain XTP, 2400 powder load that averaged 2,021 in the Henry through the 5.5 inch Single Seven for a 1,502 FPS average with the following pic being the high number for the 6 shot string.... (I had one error reading from the 7 shot cylinder). The pic shows the max FPS attained for the string. I made the note in the reloading log that this is a HOT load but empties ejected fine and primers showed mild flattening.

All in all it was a very good four hours on the shooting bench.

Very nice.

I'm not a single-action fan, but might change my mind about a Single Seven.

Thanks for the data!

Dunross....You have the option to pick up a GP100 or Sp101 in a couple of different barrel lengths.

Yes, I have a 3" SP101 already. Am considering the 4" model, but would really like a 5"+ barrel length to get some more legs from the cartridge. The GP frame seems over large for the size of the cartridge.

Agree with all of that....

It seems Federal does not release the 100gr jsp bullets they use in their American Eagle loads for reloading so I have bought some coated 100gr and 115gr RNFP's to try. I see you used #9 and 2400 in your loads. Have you tried H110? For long barrel loads that's the one I want to see what it will do.

Looking forward to seeing some more of your results.
