That other thread got me started. I went and pulled all the .32 S&W guns out of the safe. Let's see we got this cute H&R 5 shot hammerless top break with a 1 1/2" barrel says:".32S&W ctge" on barrell, this thing is TINY and chambered for the short .32S&W ctg. I have a post war hand ejector 3" barrel in .32S&W long with round butt, a Colt Officer's model match in .32S&W long (which was my Dad's secret weapon in NRA matches). I have a Steven'sFavorite rifle in .32S&W long I used to shoot frogs for eating and bunnies on the ranch with the short ctge as it is almost silent! The only hand loading I've done for this cartridge is some 105grain semi wadcutters from an old Lyman double cavity mold using 2 .7 grains of Win 231 which seem OK in the long case but do 900fps in the Officer's Model so is HOT. I haven't reloaded the short case yet but I think I will try a real light load for that cast bullet. I have a .303 British insert that takes .32S&W that I shoot in a Martini . I have a quantity of .32 Long wadcutters(Federal) that is my stash if I want to shoot, I think I will play with these awhile. Who has .32S&W Guns and what do you use them for?

I have a couple of I frames, one of em really early. They are shooters. I like havin six shots in a package 20 percent smaller than a Chief's Special.

Ankle, suit coat pocket etc...they snuggle right in.

And, with a proper gun, the cartridge's inherent accuracy is outstanding.

Cripes almighty, Gordon, but did you give me a momentary heart attack!

Supposedly there were about a dozen factory-made Model 1896 Hand Ejectors made in .32 S&W. Their existence is, from what I can tell, only a rumor.

The 1896 introduced the .32 Long cartridge; the .32 S&W remained a cartridge for the breaktop guns.

If you had an authentic 1896 factory chambered in .32 S&W, you could virtually name your price for it.

I've a 3rd Model .32 Hand Ejector that was probably made sometime in the 1920s. That's an I-frame, with a 4" barrel and the stepped backstrap.

I also picked up a snubby Model 30 last year.

NO NO NO , I mean an I framed .32s&W long with round butt and 3" barrel that were produced in late 40's! I bought 2 with consecutive serial # but sold one to my business partner 15 years ago.

Greeting's All-

I have got a 2" barrel Smith & Wesson model 30-1
in .32 S&W Long that was purchased NIB by my late
father back in 1971. It's only been test fired a total
of 6 rounds. Nowdays, its more of a relic of sentimental
value than anything else; and has been relegated to
duty in the safe!

I used to have a little H&R revolver in .32 Long. What an inaccurate piece of junk. An elderly aunt gave it to me when she retired from Johns Hopkins and left Baltimore. I guess it's the thought that counts. On second thought, maybe the one box of shells I fired through it wasn't enough to break it in.
