I've done a lot of procrastinating with rifle loads. I originally wanted to start with .30-06 to get a feel for the process, before moving on to reloading for .375 Ruger.
This past week I finally started resizing brass, set up my case trimmer, and prepped some cases. I made a dummy .375 Ruger cartridge with the 270gr TSX, and settled on a COAL. But I currently only have one rifle powder, which is H3450. I can't find any data for this bullet and powder combo, and I assume it's because they aren't as compatible as others. But I ran it through Quickloads, and it seems from a 20" barrel we're looking at around 2,550-2,575fps muzzle velocity. I was hoping for more.
However the Barnes data I have suggests that Winchester-760 is perhaps a very good choice for this bullet. They marked it as most accurate. QLs has a slightly lower max charge than Barnes, but not by much, and is calculating muzzle velocity at around 2,650fps.
Should I just hold out for some W760, or at least try working up a load with H3450? Or perhaps someone has another good option? (I still have to buy primers anyhow).
