You're better off using a BRONZE chamber brush.
Stainless steel chamber brushes CAN damage and DO accelerate wear in the chamber.
Buy bronze chamber brushes from Brownell's.
These are special, extra-stiff bristled, over-size brushes made specifically for cleaning chambers.
Unlike using larger caliber bore brushes, these chamber brushes have a stiff, less flexible bristle that does a MUCH better job, with no electric drill needed.
To use, "screw" the brush into the chamber, then give it one or two turns, push the rest of the way through, then pull back out.
In all but the very worse cases, all fouling will be gone, AND with no possibility of damage to the chamber.
