ok so i am reloading my 357 well the dies are a 38/357 lee dies now i know the bullets are .357 for both 38/357 but i was told that if you shoot 38 through a 357 that you cannot reload them is that true????? and if so why not the dies are the same the bullets are the same........

Never heard that one? I have been reloading 38s that were shot in 357s since the late 1980s.

That is patently false info. Of course you can reload .38 Spl that has been fired in a .357 mag.

Definitely Not True!

I have been doing it since 1962.

The only thing you need to do is clean the .38 carbon fouling out of the longer .357 chambers when you get done.

A cordless drill & a .40 cal bore brush makes quick work of that!

all right yeah people were telling me the cases would swell up cause the 38 was a smaller diameter and a bunch of other ****.....i thought they had their head up their asses it didnt make sense to me and when i looked in the reloading manual all the specs are just about identical so i was confused figured i would consult the professionals

Pure hogwash of course.

.38 Spl and .357 cases are the same diameter. They both use .357 jacketed bullets.

Millions, if not billions, of .38 cases fired in .357 guns have been reloaded over the years.

Maybe what you heard was that if you shot a lot of 38 specials, you will have a hard time loading a 357 magnum into the cylinder. That's because the 38 special leaves a deposit of carbon where the rim meets the cylinder. This makes it tough to stick a longer 357 mag cartridge in it.

A couple of swipes with a copper brush or boresnake will easily remove that carbon ring.
