Have obtained a mostly full box of subj ammo made by Rem-UMC, which has a 145 gr HP bullet. Box specifically notes that this ammo is for Marlin, Remington, and Winchester RIFLES only, and "SO NOT USE IN REVOLVERS."

I am aware that "Express" ammo was so loaded for rifles by, I think, Winchester but was taken off of the market due to people not heeding the warnings and blowing up their handguns.

Any info on velocity of this ammo, period that it was produced, etc., will be greatly appreciated.

I think they loaded to higher pressures once the Winchester 1892 model came out, much stronger action than the '73, which was the first to chamber that caliber.

It's also recommended that you don't use jacketed bullets in the '73 because the barrel steel is fairly soft.

I stick to mild handloads for my '73, with soft lead bullets only.

That an unusual weight bullet for that cartridge, they're mostly loaded with 180g.

Sorry, but I can't help you with the age of the box. If you put a photo of the box here or in the research section, someone may be able to give you more information or date it by the logo or design.

Nice find.
