.380 acp bullets fyi

just a quick note, to anyone sick and tired of paying for plated or jacketed bullets for their 380's. if you own casting equipment, the lee 358-105swc six cavity mold bullets will work in 9mm/380acps as long as they are sized down to .356". i bought this mold for my wifes 38 special, also hopeing that they would work in my 380. they work just fine in it. i am working on good loads for them. the only ones i have shot so far was with 1.9g of imr700x. they functioned just fine, but seem pretty anemic. so i am working up loads with the 700x and titegroup. when i get a couple of good loads, i will post them.

That is good information to know. Advise when you get a good working/plinking load worked up. I have two 380's, lots of cases, but no bullets. Thinking of casting some 380's myself. Have all the equipment except a mould and bullet sizing dies.

shot & chrono'd a box today, results (average velocity) are as follows:
imr 700x
1.9=679fps
2.0=686fps
2.1=713fps
2.2=740fps
2.3=780fps
2.4=831fps

titegroup
1.8=711fps
1.9=744fps
2.0=767fps
2.1=782fps
2.3=817fps
all of these came from my lcp. about 1/3 of the way into this, i started getting problems with feeding. the l.l.a. collected in the chamber, and i had to push the slide all the way home to fire the next round. i do not know if that would affect the velocity or not. but it was frustrating. also, these bullets actually weigh 108 grains, not 105 advertised. my alloy is ww + tin. i hope this helps some of you guys out there. i am probably not going to try to get higher velociies out of these. at the highest velociies on both powders, the recoil seemed a little more than standard loads, so that tells me that for target practice, this is hot enough.

Or just order some great bullets from Missouri bullets. $24 for 500 shipped. Doesn't even include THR discount. I've loaded them from hot to quite cold with W231. Not a single problem in my LCP's amazingly.

i am tired of buying bullets. they just cost to much. casting my own, at least for plinking, is way freindlier to my wallet. if i could make my own smokeless powder, i would do that as well. i would use and make my own black powder, if it wasnt such a p.i.a. to clean up after, and stinky to use.
