380 load advice?

Ok guys the misses recently recived a sig p238 which she is very happy with here is the thing now she wants me to reload for it and I said sure Hun now here are the comments I have win brass new in bag win SPP 95grain LRN bullets as for powders I have win 231 and aa no.2 my manuals say for Win 231 3.2 is min and max AA 2 is 3.2 to 3.7 but here is the kicker it is for jacketed any ideas on lead I checked my cast manual and it only has 90 or 100 grain lead loads any help is appreciated thanks horsemen61

Use the data for 100 gr. lead.

Well that was my plan if i couldn't find a load I just checked both of the powders I named website data. Neither list a lead load in that weight so that may be the solution.

I reload for my wife's LCP and is 2.7-2.9gr of Win231 at .980 with 95 grain bullets regardless of make. It's light enough that she doesn't like shooting factory loads anymore, just wants to shoot mine.

I agree you should use the 100gr lead data and I would use W231.

My older Lyman book is handy and they have a 92gr Lead bullet listed the the W231 data is 2.3gr to 3.5gr W231.

It is also worth noting that Lyman lists all cast bullet weights 'As Cast' from the alloy listed.

That is Before sizing and lubing.

So the bullet they list as a 90 might be a 95 if cast from a softer alloy, and the weight of the bullet lube added.

Or it might be an 88 if cast from harder linotype.

What is most important is matching the nominal weight of the bullet, and the bullets mold number or exact shape to your bullets.

You could have a 90 in the Lyman manual, that weighs 95 after sizing and lubing.
Or cast from softer alloy.

It's not the exact weight that matters so much as the pretty close shape.

3.2 win231 as min? I wouldnt try anywhere near max with my 380, 3.0 is snappy with 95gr cast and a bear with 105gr cast. I like 2.7gr of win231/hp38 for anything between 90 and 100gr

That was for jacketed.

From my own tests in a Browning BDA-380 I loaded 2.3 to 3.0 behind 95 gr LRN. Best results came at 2.7-2.8. My CZ-83 likes the hotter loads.

I load the MBC 95 grain with 2.8 grains of hp38, same as win 231,seated at .985 On a side note I had trouble getting enough neck tension with most 380 brass. I now run the brass through my 223 rem sizer after I resize them with my 380 acp sizer. I dont size all the way down, just a little past where the bullet stops in the case.

I use 3.6gr of Universal Clays on MBC 95gr lead bullets. I buy the lead bullets from MBC in boxes of 500 and use them to just keep myself current on the feel of the longer harder trigger pull that my S&W Bodyguard 380 has. Definitely cheaper than using FMJs. You just have to remember to clean your guns after shooting...not a problem for me because I always do that anyway.
