Found a walnut Urika, new, for 800 bucks. That's a good deal cheaper than the new Urika 2.

I compared them, and it seemed like the Urika 2 might be a tad lighter, but I'm not sure. All told, they were REALLY similar, if not identical other than the wood finish.

Anyone know the difference, if any, other than the "X-tra Grain" finish on the Urika 2?

Both are 28" 12 Gauge guns.

As I am waiting for my Brother to get up - he loves to sleep - and go dove hunting, I actually was comparing the 2 about 3:30am.
I think the Urika II has crappy wood finish on the one I have.
Optima Bore sure comes to mind...
The Extrema has the Optima PLUS, and it is a Urika...
btw, I'm taking a Franchi 500 12ga ; a Franchi 620 and a Beretta 686 white onyx 20ga.
Have never shot the 500, but went 3 for 3 with the 620. I'm sneaking the white onyx out of the house - my wife actually thinks it belongs to her.:neener:

LOL

I wonder if the Urika 2 has a slightly different gas system (self-cleaning piston or somesuch) or if they're the same inside.

Both say "Optima" on the bottom (which I wish they weren't, because I have a 12 Gauge White Onyx and wouldn't mind sharing sporting clays chokes between the two guns).

The only difference is the gas piston which Beretta claims is self-cleaning. It is serrated on the end and apparently spins inside the mechanism to "clean" any plastic or carbon build up. IIRC this part can be ordered and inserted into an older 391 if it is an feature you can't live without.

The Xtra-Grain is a slightly nicer version of the Xtra-Wood. The newer version looks less garish. FWIW, both look awful when they get a few dings in them. I prefer wood stocks even if they are plainer looking.

Is the 391 an Optima Bore or does it have Mobile chokes? The Mobile choked guns are a little heavier. Guns with Mobile chokes are every bit as good but don't demand the same price as the newer Optima.

If it were my decision to make I wouldn't buy the Optima II if I could buy an earlier version much cheaper.
