I have this Colt 3rd model dragoon that I was wondering what the value is.
The serial # is 22302. I believe it was manufactured in 1976. has never been fired. has two battle scenes engraved on the cylinder. The cylinder and barrel are blued, The back strap and trigger guard are brass and the rest is case hardened. there are no foreign marks and is in the original brown colt box. Can anybody help me out with this?

Thanks, Bellzy

I just sold one for $600. I was told I could have sold it for more, but I always hated that big horse pistol and was just glad to get rid of it. the money went towards my new nickel plated Colt SAA.

There was a Colt 3rd (black box)at the local show in December for $400 NIB. I understand that was a good price tho.

'C' Series Third Dragoon

Your description of the gun and the serial number are consistent with the Colt's Manufacturing Company's 'C' Series reintroduction of the Third Model Dragoon. It was manufactured from 1974 through 1976. The Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Arms (Fifth Edition, 2007) puts the 100% condition value at $725; the 90% value is just $325, so condition matters a great deal.

The BB is just a guide; actual market values can and do vary considerably.

Thanks for the info.I bought this gun around 1990 for $400 and put it away. Every once and a while I take it out and oil it down but other than that it just sits in the back of the safe. Once again everybody, Thanks
