Hello, Ive asked this before a couple days ago, but I'm gonna ask again in case I get more responses.

Thanks to Kyle M. for his load data for .40.

But i havent been able to find W231 powder yet.

Here's what I have, maybe someone out there has a different reloading manual than me and has data for this round.

Bullet: 155 grain Flat point Rainier bullet
case: Speer brass (once fired)
Powder: HP-38 and Alliant 2400

Does anyone have data for the bullet/powder combo I stated above? If so, I'd love to have it. Thanks all

PS: Rainier indicates on their website to use the lead bullet load data for their bullets and I checked the Hodgdon website too, the only bullet they give data for is Hornady's XTP.

Use the 165gr data from the Hodgdon website. Your manual should cover what to do when you can't find data for a specific bullet/powder combo.

HP38 is 231 for less money. Go to Hodgdon's web sight, look up their reload data, and you will find the HP38 and 231 data is EXACTLY the same, since the powders are exactly the same.
The differences found in other manuals will give you an indication of the differences one can expect with different lot numbers of the same powder.
Rainier and Berry's bullets are loaded like lead bullets.
Every 155gn .40 lead/plated bullet uses the same load data and every 155gn .40 jacketed (and gold dot) bullet uses the same load data, but COL must be adjusted for each bullet. Every load must be started at the lowest starting load you can find (reference at least two independent sources) and worked up carefully. Your buddies load may be too hot for yours.
This should be clearly covered in almost any decent reloading manual.

Plated bullets don't shoot exactly like lead. They fall somewhere between cast and jacketed bullets. Some fall closer to the cast spectrum, and some shoot more like jacketed. Depends on how thick the plating is. Berry's suggests low to mid range jacketed data for their pistol bullets. Rainier's recommends lead data. And as you even noted, Speer Gold Dot plated bullets are loaded pretty much identically to jacketed bullets.

I have shot Berry's (regular and Thicker Plated -TP), HSM, PowerBond, Rainier, X-Treme, Speer Gold Dot/TMJ plated bullets and will let the holes on target dictate what load data/how fast to drive them - When the accuracy starts to fall, I will decrease my powder charges.

For me, I use lead load data with Rainier, lead load data or start-to-mid range jacketed for regular Berry's, jacketed load data for Berry's thick plated (TP), mid-to-high range jacketed load data for HSM/PowerBond/X-Treme, mid-to-high range jacketed load data for Speer TMJ and jacketed load data for Speer Gold Dot.

Any higher and shot groups open up. YMMV
