Harley Q and I decided to start a discussion about the

.400 CorBon - it's not about vs .45 ACP or vs 10MM

I'll be adding more to this discussion, just have some
stuff to take care of here at home.

I like the concept of multiple cartridges for a firing platform.

The 1911 and Block are common to this. I've heard the Sig line
has a problem with some barrel options?

I have a "Drop-In" barrel from Jarvis Inc. Hamilton MT Bar-Sto
makes their .400 CorBon barrels. Stainless Steel, I talked with Bill
Jarvis - they've offered thiese barrels since the beginning
of the .400 CorBon in 1997. He suggested the #3 link
as I wanted a link installed. It was $ 245 total
incl. S & H.

Problem - It doesn't lock up to battery so I'll get the gun s
shipped up to Jarvis Inc. and also get a trigger job at the same
time. We'll figure out waht the S&W 1911 5" Bbl. Len. requires

SO, I haven't fired it yet with the .400 CorBon ammo but it gave me
time to search around for a source besides CorBon

The problem I had with my para and 400 corbon was that the Jarvis barrel and my para barrel could not be interchanged because of some machining diffrences. I would have had to either change my slide and get a new 45 barrel and have them both fitted to the slide or change to just 400 corbon. I was so discusted I sold my 400 corbon pistol. I do not remember the specifics as to why things were messed up but I wish I could have done it.

BlindJustice you posted the loads I was talking about from Reed's:)
Maybe he will come on board and discuss the pro's and con's for upping the pressure in the 400 and using heavier springs (G21).
The round design has more back thrust than the 10mm;) Because of the way it is contained by expansion etc., not slipping back because of the shoulder etc.

So I am going to bump this and hope others will mention something, it is Sunday and maybe they are visiting the forum:)

Wil Terry,
Which pistols do you own that have these barrels and do you shoot the round:uhoh: I have the barrels for my 1911 but have never fired it in anything but my glock 21 because I like the pistol and shoot it a lot.

The 21 has barrels for the 10mm, 45, and the 400c/b. I find the point of impact 2 " high at 7yd over the 45 and 10 mm:confused: But it is ok because that is the better hold for me in a hunting situation, a coyote or hog or ?? holding and observing at the same the animal, and not covering it with the sight. This 2" impact above the others, seems to carry out to the 25 yd line also.
