44 Mag case length question?

I just got 500 rounds of 44 Mag once fired brass. It is mixed headstamp. I was measureing the case length and it varried a lot. It measured anywhere from 1.270 to 1.283 . In my manual it says the trim-to length is 1.275 and max is 1.285. Will this cause a problem. If I have to trim I will have to buy a trimmer. I do not load any rifle and only load straight walled pistol. If I buy a trimmer it will get used very little. What do you think?

if ya want consistent roll crimps ya gotta trim .
lookat the lee trimmin sys , i use the holder in a drill or the cutter & gage in a drill press for big batches.

Be sure and resize it before you measure or trim it.

If it was fired in different guns with different chamber dimensions, the more it expanded the shorter it got.
The less it expanded the longer it stayed.

Size it all first and then see what you have.

Yep, size it all first.

I trimmed my .44 Mag brass to 1.270, cause I had a bunch that was under 1.275, or I would have trimmed it to 1.275. It won't make any difference which you trim it to.

Thanks Guys,
When I get my new dies tomorrow I will resize them and remeasure and see what I get. I know they were fired in different guns cause they were once fired when I bought them.
