I’m loading 44mag with 22gr alliant 2400 cci 350 mag primers 240gr with a max crimp on bullet. The accuracy is good, but I get a lot of unburned powder. Eventually the unburned powder gets between the cylinder and extractor and causes problems with cylinder. Can anybody recommend a powder around the same burn rate, but has a more complete burn?

I've been using ADI-AP100 and ADI-AR2205 (4227) quite a bit lately in 44mag, both are super clean at magnum pressures.

Theres also W296, clean burning when it's run at or close to max pressures in 44mag.

I have shot 2400, H110/W296 (same powder) and AA#9 with full power loads in the 44 Magnum.

They all leave powder residue and if you are not pointing your muzzle straight up on ejection, all of these powders will leave residue under your extractor star.

I find 2400 far more flexible than H110/W296. You can shoot 3/4 power loads with 2400 that are accurate. You cannot cut the powder charges on H110/W296. The manufacturer warns not to cut the loads. It is full power or nothing.

The problem ain't your powder, it's your primers. At 22.0gr your load should burn very cleanly. Everybody recommends standard primers with 2400 because they work best. Magnum primers produce erratic results. Switch to 300's and your problem will probably go away.

IMR 800X does`nt meter the best but works good & my Redhawk loves it under any boolit I try ,Herco is the next best !!

Both burn clean !!!

Send me your 2400 if you don't like it. 2400 and the 44 Mag have been a clean burning match since the 44 Mag was invented over 50 years ago.

Maybe try backing off the load a bit. I load 19.6gr of 2400 with a CCI350 and a 240grXTP JHP. With a CCI300 primer I bump that up to 20.5gr of 2400. Accuracy seems to be about the same for me and they both burn clean. I use them in a 7.5" Ruger SBH.

2400 h 110 and w296 must be shot at max loads i had this problem when i was working up loads for 45 colt when i got them to max loads very clean i hope this helps

I always get a few yellowish granules with 2400 no matter what, doesn't bother me in the least. I love Unique too.
