.44 Spcl. loads in .44 Mag brass?

Looking back at my notes, I've used 7.5 gr. of 231 with a 240 Sierra JHP to get 965 fps. in a 7.5" M29.

8.6 of 231 with a 240 gr. LSWC produced 1045 fps. from the same gun.

I've got a 10" Contender barrel as well, but it looks like I've only shot factory ammo over the chronograph with that one.

Also, I've made .44 Spl brass out of .44 Mag before on a brass trimmer.

I would recommend getting a power-driven trimmer if you're going to do very many, though. Makes for a tired arm otherwise. :p

I have done this to, and it is a pain with a hand crank, but it worked well for 180- 200gr jacketed bullets. One should be aware that doing this could make a over pressure load do to a difference case volume. My trimmed 44mag brass was done with W-W head stamp and I have found no ill effects for doing it.
