I am getting ready to load some some 45 bullets using rmr 230 gn fmjs and power pistol. All the information I keep finding is for speers tmjs which from my understanding are plated therefore cause less friction then a standard FMJ. I am not sure if I can use the same data for the fmjs. I really want to get to 850 fps out of my 5 inch xd.

Alliants data shows 8.1 gns as the max behind a 230gn Speer TJM at an oal of 1.26. I am thinking of starting at around 7 gns behind my rmr 230 fmjs at the same oal.

Has anybody loaded this combination before?

Should be go to go with that data. I loaded 230 FMJ with PP to 8.1 and had no issues, settled on 7.6, just start low and work up.

Started with 7.0 grains and an oal of 1.25, 7 out of 10 were between 838 and 860 when chronoed. 2 were not read and 1 that hit the poles read 802, pretty sure that wasn't an accurate number so threw it out. Pretty happy with it, all cases looked good with no signs of pressure, may have been tossed kind of far behind me but nothing extreme. Going to move it up another .2 a grain and see what happens. Switching to wood dowels is the only reason my chrono isn't completely dead :).

Shot 10 rounds I loaded with 7.25 grains yesterday to the same specs and although I could only get 3 out of 10 to read on the chrono they were all in the 860s. Casings look great and I don't remember any excessive recoil, this is as far as I'm taking this round.

Don't know, I really need to start testing my loads for accuracy. I don't think I'm good enough free hand and none of the places I shoot have a bench (the range in the picture and a cow pasture).
