Loaded my first batch of 45 acp using my new Hornady lock n load press. It worked great, took them out to the range and they worked great in both my guns.
I did use dummy rounds to see if they would feed, chamber, eject and all was great

was the first time I loaded coated, lead, bullets

Don't shoot em through polygonal barrels!
Enjoy!

Meh.
My best friend has shot uncoated, commercial ("hardcast") lead in his 1st Gen Glock 17 9mm since '88 and has never had a problem.

Not saying you won't get leading (I've had more leading in my conventionally rifled barrels than he has in his Glock) but, IMO, that old admonition has been blown out of proportion for years.

I have two 1911s one full size SDS, and the other advanced tactical, from the Phillippines, commander sized and both worked great

now I need to load some 9 mm and 38 super and see how they work. I have an original COLT 1911 38 super with Bar Sto match barrel and bushing 38 super, and an ED BROWN conversion kit match barrel, bushing, and magazines for 9mm. They work great in the COLT. I never knew was that easy to convert to 9 mm. Should have done that years ago. Have any of yall ever priced those factory 38 super, they are outrageous!!!

1911 has been my favorite pistol, since I was 18 and first fired it up in Fort Lewis, WA, and that was in 1968. Served 20 years active duty and carried that old slabsided pistol for all that 20 years. Also owned a few of them.
Not saying I don't like revolvers have a RUGER SECURITY SIX, AN Uberti EL PATRON 45 colt, (copy of the COLT SAA,) and a Tauras, 22/22 mag. and they are all fine handguns. Just perfer the 1911 45.
