New to .45 colt reloading. Picked up a set of Lee dies today at the LGS. Also some Berry's 250 Gr. plated RNFP marked .45 LC at 452 Dia. Upon reading the literature that came with the dies it said bullet dia. is 454 Dia. for colt. My question is will the smaller slug work in my Cattleman. My 1911 works well with the 452 RNL. Thanks

Those will work just fine, no one makes plated or jacketed in .454 diameter, every one uses .452 bullets for .45 Colt unless they are shooting lead, and even then most guns don't need .454, since .45 Colt barrels these days are normally .452 groove diameter.

I use coated or plated .452 for my .45 Colt.

I cast bullets for four .45 Colt revolvers and three .45 Colt rifles. All my bullets get sized .452" for this caliber.

Hope this helps.

Fred

The mention of "454" was that the die set can also be used for 454 Casull. They only offer one diameter for 45 Colt, the standard of which is .452. Your Cattleman, like my El Patron, is very likely sized for .452.
