Had the week off. Took the 25-13 Mountain Gun, 25 Classic and Blackhawk 4 5/8" out for a run.

200 gr swc with 5.6 Bullseye and 5.5 Clays grouped well with the Smiths, not great with the Ruger.

200 gr swc and 6.8 Red Dot is working out to be very accurate for me, and was in the Smiths again. OK in the Ruger.

Finished up with 250 gr rnfp with 6.0 Red Dot. The Ruger loved this load, so I shot most of the box through it. Need to replace the rubber grips.

I love big guns, I cannot lie..!

"The Ruger... Need to replace the rubber grips."

Yeah, rubber negates the whole SA grip shape recoil advantage thing.

Very nice pistolas.

The Ruger SA is a tank. Probably one of the most popular pistols in Cowboy.

But..... a few bucks will make it love everything. Ruger has almost none or no forcing cone. It needs an 11 degree forcing cone. Ruger is notorious for having tight cylinder throats. This will swage lead bullets and cause excessive recoil with jacketed bullets. Another quirk happens when they fit the barrel and a constriction occurs at the breech end of the barrel of about .001".
The bullets squeezes its way through the cylinder throat, hits a flat barrel hole, is restrained by barrel fit constriction, and is undersized as it travels the bore.
Find a good cowboy gunsmith and it will be a relative cheap fix for superb accuracy.

That Blackhawk is beautiful. When I transfer the .44 Magnum to my son. I am going to get me one of those 4 5/8" Rugers.

Love em all. I have the Blackhawk in .45 Colt, but mine's a 7 1/2" barrel. I REALLY like the mountain gun. Of course with the Rugers, what's not to like? They're awesome. Mine came with the same grips yours has. I replaced them with Pachmyers, but it takes a lot away from the classic looks of the single action. It does tame down the "Ruger Only" stuff though. My dad has one in a 5 1/2" model, and it has factory wooden grips. It's very comfortable to shoot even with the heavy loads. I'm thinking of getting a pair of factory wood grips for mine.
Great collection.

Great collection to say the least! Love the 45 Colt caliber... From cowboy loads to loads that can rival the 454 Casull.

Great choices in guns and caliber!

45 Colts can be fun

You have some nice Smiths there. I have had all of these in some form or another in the past. I had a 6 inch 25-5 that I sold and should not have.

This was over 20 years ago and there was not a proliferation to my knowledge of good cast bullets. I shot a Keith look a like that weighed 255 grains over 9.0 grains of Unique. Not accurate (the bullet caster was lousy) but he did make the bullet I liked and fairly well most of the time. There was not a good source at the time for these things like now. Leadhead bullets by the way gets my vote as an excellent product and Tommy provides good service. No I never met him just talk to him when ordering. Wished they were around or wished I knew about them back then. The chamber mouths were big and I used a .454 bullet. It was a gentle giant and was hell on the bowling pins at the local matches. It always cleared the table!!!! Even if the pins were heavy with bullets it did not matter. I had a Ruger convertible Blackhawk too. Sold it too. Dont miss it at all. Have fun and enjoy the choices of projectiles available today.

The 25 Classic is my impulse buy right after my Dad passed away in February. I wanted blue, my dealer said he could have nickel for me the next day for $830 out the door. I decided to go with the Bling for instant gratification. The silly Mountain Gun just haunted me, and I got it for a reasonable price. Both are the newer lock infested versions, but the chamber mouths are in spec and they are both very accurate. I wouldn't take the Classic out in the woods, and the other two will need to take turns, or I'll need a double rig........

Great Smith's there. I had wanted a really nice 5" S&W 45 Colt for some years and finally got around to building one on a beater M29-2 and an 8 3/8" barrel 45 I picked up. Jim Stroh did the metal with minimum spec chambers, throats sized to the cast bullets I sent in with it and a finely cut Taylor throat. Keith Brown did the stocks in XXX French Walnut in the original Roper style. It is dead nuts tight in every which way like I have never felt an S&W. I should be shooting it in two weeks when I head home. I'll try and post the results then.

Soon after I commissioned the above gun I found a great deal on a 4" nickel one at a local gunshow. Used but not abused though with "fat" throats that I load accordingly.

Nice to see others enjoying the fine 45 in a double action.
