I've been looking for an odd ball caliber that offers more powerful than service pistol performance and the .45 Super caught my eye. I've read some information that in most .45acp pistols all you need to do is replace the recoil spring with a 24 pounder and you can shoot .45 Super out of it. I like Sigs a lot, and that is the platform I'd like to work with. Has anyone done this?

I've also considered trying to get ahold of a Sig 220 in .38 Super, although I have no idea how hard it would be to find one, and shooting 9x23 Winchester out of it. When was the last import date of the Sig .38 Super into the US and how hard is it to find one?

Thanks.

Last I checked they didn't exist. I suppose there might be some barrel and magazine kits out there. I wonder though if there might be some extraction problems associated with the breech face/extractor alignment. After all, the breech face is for a .45 caliber casing, not a .40 caliber one. Do you know of any 10mm conversions?

A big reason why I am considering the .45 Super and the 9x23 Winchester is so that I can keep as much of the original pistol components on the pistol.

You are partially correct...
Check this out:
Grayguns 10mm Conversion thread (Sigforum)

Grayguns is doing custom conversions on 220ST's into 10mm guns.
I've got a number of 220ST CPO's available for $605 to use as the base.
I'm debating getting one of these made for myself.

My only concern would be the alloy frame. The only .45 Supers I've seen are in steel-framed guns.
Good point--that would be why they're using the stainless models for the conversions.

Not the USP, it takes it just fine. But you're looking for Sig....I know they make a 400 Cor-Bon barrel for the 220. That's an oddball loading right there. Good luck.
