.45ACP in a 4" or 4.5" barrel?

I am going to buy a M&P45 this evening and want some opinions. The M&P "compact" is the same size as it's big brother except for two things - 1) the barrel is 1/2" shorter and the grip is 3/4" shorter, and you go from 8+1 to 10+1 with the full size . Would anybody think it's worth buying the "compact" over the full size? I am thinking 2 less rounds could be a factor and the size doesn't seem to be a real difference. Thoughts?

.75" difference is quite a bit, if you're planning to CCW, off the butt frame

If it's for protection in a carry mode and not just for range purposes, I think you know the answer....
