I know of Kimbers, Colts, Springfields, & ParaOrd 1911-style, but what other single action with manual safety 45ACP should we consider buying for a member of our family, for about $800~$1200?

Didn't like the higher profile of a Sig Sauer 220: "Sits" taller than 1911 Kimbers.

Like it to be kinda slim and handy, easy to transport and present, when needed.

1911s of all kinds.

HK45C and HK45

FNP45

All these can be carried cocked and locked.

I've read that it technically is a single action, so I'll say Smith & Wesson M&P with manual safety. Usually far less than $800.

Technically a Glock is in Condition 1...try the G21 SF...but with that said, of the ones I own, the Kimber TLE II is my favorite, and the Swartz safety hasn't blown up, fallen off, and I haven't been struck down by the ghost of John Browning.

No Glock can be in Conditions 1: Cocked and locked. Glock 21s are fine pistols, but has no external safety.

Kimber TLE II, eh: Kimbers seem fine, a tad overpriced?
My FFL/CCW buddy carries short barrel CDP and believes in Kimbers.

Dan Wesson CCO fits all your criteria. I bought one a few months ago for $1200. Very well made, tight tolerances, light weight, accurate, easy to maintain and carries very well. I guess you can tell I am impressed with this gun.

for Condition 1?

For carry in condition 1, if I were buying for a member of my family it would be an STI Ranger 11. No compromise mine is flawless, and as a bonus sits low in the hand.
TGR

The S&W M&P45 can be had with or without a slide safety. Be sure to specify the safety if you go that way. A fine firearm that you should at least consider based upon your criteria. A lot less than $800 too.
