I have read that all of the 5.45 ammo is corrosive, except for the wolf, but the stuff at the local shop says it isn't. The brand is 'Hotshot', 68 gr. fmj, made in Romania. Is it corrosive or not?

Probably is. Not sure though.

Wish the file uploading system on here supported sound files... I have a clip of me screaming LIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! like some guy out of Soylent Green...

Currently manufactured commerical 5.45x39 is not corrosive.

These can include:

Hotshot brand from Romania
Wolf from Russia
Brown Bear / Silver Bear from Russia
Golden Bear from Serbia
Monarch & various regional sporting good store brands from Russia

If it's military surplus, it is corrosive.
