Gang,

I found a five screw S&W hand ejector at a pawn shop. K frame. Rounded front sight and small rear sight picture. 4 inch barrel and the bore is lightly pitted (but quite shootable.) Locks up quite tight, no shake of any kind.

Checkered S&W grips have diamond where the grip screws are. They are old grips but definably quite usable.

Serial number is 75xxx. The gun is in .32 S&W Long (wish it was 32-20!)

Now I'd say 70 percent blue remains with the unblued portions around the frame near the grips. No rust on the outside.

They want $299 for the gun.

How does that sound?

Thanks,

Deaf, I am of the mind if you want something, buy it. Once it is paid for and at your house, it doesn't matter to me how much you paid for it! It shouldn't matter to anyone else but you. If you like it buy it. Take it home and lie to your friends about how much you paid if it will make you feel better. If you are happy with the gun, that's all that matters.
Now go shoot it and tell us all about it.

I agree 100%. The question I ask myself is "Have you seen one like it for less lately? Expect to see another one anytime soon?

I'd buy it for that price.

I'd say offer $250 and meet in the middle.

I just found one in 32-20 last weekend. Seller wants $1550. Think ill pass

buy it and send it to me,very good price for a K framed .32S&W ,make sure its a K frame and not a smaller J frame. eastbank.

Could be:
.32 Military & Police.
Caliber .32 S&W Long. 2, 4 or 5 inch barrel. Fixed sights on K frame, 6 shot, square butt, 5 screw, S or C serial number prefix, made 1948-1950. In 2006 the Standard Catalog of S&W gave a value of $1500 in very good condition.

or
K32 Hand Ejector /K32 Masterpiece, the Pre-Model 16. Adjustable sights, on K frame, 6 shot, square butt, 6 inch barre, 5 screw, K serial number prefix. In 2006 the Standard Catalog of S&W gave a value of $1250 in very good condition. A limited number were made in 1949 with 4 inch barrels. 4 to 5 times normal price. So $5000 to $6000.

Most likely though, its a .32 Hand Ejector Model of 1903 2nd Change, small I frame, 6 shots, patent dates on the barrel rib, barrel length 3.25 or 4.25 inches, walnut extension stocks if adjustable rear sight. These make it look like a square butt, but its actually round. manufactured between 1906 & 1909 in the serial range 51127 to 95500.
Very good condition $315, plus premium for target version.

Predates heat treatment of cylinders, so can't be hot loaded. Lacks the internal hammer block safety found on modern guns, so should be loaded with an empty chamber under the hammer.

Go back and check it out. If its a K frame and not a gunsmith conversion, then its worth a _lot_. If its an I frame then its in the right price range, but not particularly rare. Over half a million were made.

460Kodiak:
Thats twice the value for an excellent condition .32-20 Hand Ejector Model of 1905, 4th Change, which is the most common variant. If it was unfired in the box, then its a good price.

I bet it's a .32-20 and they labeled it wrong.

I have both .32 S&W long and .32-20 empties (I have a I frame .32 S&W long made in 1912 already.)

Find out today.

Yeah, that's what I figured since it was in a Cabela's, and that's the model it was. It was in nice shape, but certainly not pristine, and I saw no box. Blueing was about 85%. I usually do a quick spot check on Gunbroker.com to get an idea on the price.

Anyway, sorry to hijack. Let us know if you get it Deaf!

.32 WCF... that is .32-20 is what it was in.

I guess $300 is a ok price but it's not a super collector piece (as it would be in .32 S&W long.)

NRA very good = $415.00 for the .32-20, back in 2006. I doubt prices have moved much on that model, its the rarer N frames that bring the big bucks.

If it's a K-frame in .32 WCF (.32-20) carefully check the bore. Many have a bulge where someone shot a second bullet on top of one already stuck inside the barrel. :uhoh:
