My dad has a 50-70 Trapdoor that was converted around 1866.

The bolt and nut that form the hinge pin for the trapdoor are missing.

Does anyone know where I could obtain a replacement?

Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

You will need to study up and see whether you need the short or long and the collet that the long version requires. They are not so expensive that you could not buy both and fool around with them. And they are real USGI, not foreign copies or expensive custom machining.

Or maybe these folks could help with the parts and information on how to choose and install the right ones.

Try these folks. Heritage Iron Works [810-731-1229]. And Lodgewood Mfg.[262-473-5444]. I got a rear site,a firing pin, leather sling and a bayonet from one or the other for my 1884 Springfield.

If you want original parts, try these either of these fellows. Neither are trying to make all their profit from one sale and the parts are correct. If you need help, they are the guys that wrote the book.

I have used them to restore a couple of 1866 and 1868 models and they were both extrememly helpful. Next project is an 1873 model.
