Not real familiar with the 50 ae but I was wondering why the Desert Eagle is the only platform?
I know it is a very long round so maybe no 1911 but why not a revolver? Other rimless rounds have revolver platforms.

Isn't the 50AE a little more than a 1911 can handle? The Desert Eagle has a gas system doesn't it?

The .50 AE is a bit of a special breed. It has the same rim size as a .44 Mag, so that the DE can switch barrels to shoot them both without having to switch bolts as well. In big-frame revolvers, there are already plenty of heavy cartridges, which are very effective. (.460 S&W, .475 Linebaugh, .480 Ruger, etc.) The .500 S&W is already chambered in a revolver, and as far as I can tell, the only point to it is to be bigger.

Hamilton Bowen makes a Ruger Redhawk conversion in 50AE, with moon clips!!!

Do I hear another 'bear' thread coming?

.500JRH fits in a regular sized revolver, and in the S*@ .500.

About the same ballistics as the .475, but with heavier bullets.
