I posted this over at ARF, but I didn't get the reaction I though I would, The Highroad is a bit different, figured a few folks might enjoy this.

I had a bunch of stuff I wasn't useing and my wifes National Match Rifle doesn't get much casual use at $1.oo per molly coated round, so I started out trying to trade for everything in the ARF Equipment Exchange to build a spare upper for her, but I've found that I like it more on my M4-gery. Five seperate trades... I almost made it... with the exception of a gas block.

Two different Trades shipped, ending in 3 shipping charges of $9.60 = $28.80 Only part bought was a J&T Gas Block from Midway, shipping and NRA round up $32.oo. Total out of pocket $60.80 - if I hadn't given to the NRA I'd be below $60, but that was never a goal.

Used Traded Parts; Bushmaster Heavy Barrel 1/7 cut to 18" (before I got it), Bushy Used upper, Bushy Delta Ring Assembly and barrel nut, fireing pin retaining pin, bolt cam, Lower rail KAC Rifle Length, triangle washer for front of hand guards, YHM bipod adapter, CAV Compensator, crush washer.

New Traded Parts; Harris Bipod, Colt Bolt.

Stuff Laying Around; RCO-A4, M16 bolt carrier, fireing pin, upper KAC Rifle Length rail, Matech BUIS, KAC VFG, KAC rail covers, Surefire Silencer washers to align Comp.

Shoot her Saturday at 25yrds we were key holeing shots, I used rem oil to do an initial lube, after 40 rounds she required a bit of CLP and finished off 60 rounds almost problem free. I'm going to try and get her out this week for some 100-300m shooting.

So, this is going to be your wife's "casual range use" weapon, or yours?

Spiffy setup, though.

We tested it on my AR, as her NM Rifle is worth more than my M4gery lower, why risk damage to her $300 Geissele trigger, with out at trial session... after I put 100 rounds through it I'll paint the rail covers green to match her butstock and designate it as hers.

I also have a Fulton Armory .308 lower reciever to start building and the wish list has a 6.8spc AR upper latter on this year... so I'll eventually forget that it fits my AR lower :uhoh:
