If it's the gun I'm thinking of, it's a 686 with satin-finished barrels and basic walnut.
Top-quality gun, without the extra cost of polished blue, fancy metal finishes, and fancy wood.
I wish they still made them; they were priced well under a grand new, as I recall. If they were still available off-the-shelf, I would probably have at least two in different bores (instead of the one White Onyx I did buy new) and probably one each in 12, 20 and 28, in lieu of another gun or two I bought in the meantime.
I really like the function and handling of the 686, but I use shotguns in the field. Polished blue guns not only give a reflective flash that can be seen a mile away when the sun's out, but it makes me cringe to set a polished gun on rocky or snowy ground.
That said, if the seller wants $1500, just go buy a new White Onyx.
But if you can pick one up without too much wear and tear for a good price, I'd jump on it.
