Building up a 700 bolt 223 with 7.7 twist for heavier bullets. Was thinking of the HS Precision bottom metal and mags but what I find is that they only make 4 rnd mags and are HS specific. I want bottom metal that accepts AICS type mags, need at least 2 5rnd mags
thanks in advance

badger and surgeon bottom metal are good. not a fan of PTG or HS

to be honest, for what you'd pay for bottom metal and bedding, you can almost get into a decent chassis like an XLR or MPA

Badger. PT&G are good products, but they tend to suck for quality control, and even more so for customer service. CDI if they make one for your rifle (I have them on Rugers, no Rems). Seekins as well.

Bottom metal should be a couple hundred bucks. My MPa chassis (which is a big divergence from a traditional stock) was over $1000 to my door. The XLR looks less expensive, but recall, you aren’t getting the stock or grip, and have to add those costs on top of the purchase price for the chassis.

Im using Magpul hunter bottom metal on two 700s, but those are not drop in and are made of plastic. If I weren't cheap I'd have gone with one of the better options.

That said I'm using a Ruger aics style 10rnd mag, and it fits fine, and allows a 2.5ish coal.
The issue I ran into with my gun is that the action is still made for 2.3ish" loads, so with the 2.47coal im using, the bullets hit the feed ramp and end up at sharp angle before riding up out of the mag. This causes them to go tail down under the bolt before the magazine releases them.

The MDT magazine i had did the same thing.

Opening the feedlips a little kept that from happening.

If you could probably modify the feed ramp to prevent this as well but I haven't tried it.
