I picked up a new to me Mec Grabber 20 ga. to replace an old 600 Jr. I have been using for 30+years. I have always used 700X in my trap loads since way back then and never changed powders, bushings, or other components. When I was double checking my drop weight on the new Grabber with a couple different bushings, I decided to look up current loads to make sure I was using correct charge weight. Looks like I am way behind the times. Hodgdon's data no longer lists any loads for AA hulls using Win 209 primers, and 700X powder.
I have always used AA hulls, Win 209 primers, Claybuster CB1078-20 wads, and my 600 Jr. was dropping 12.0 grains of 700X. Question is, do I use up my stock of 700X or switch powders? I have shot thousands of rounds of this load with no issues
EDIT: The load is 2 3/4" AA Hulls - 7/8 Oz. shot

(I have a Dupont IMR handloading guide dated 5/1983 that lists a load of 12.5 gr. using the Win 209 primer and the Win AA20 wad. Velocity listed as 1110 and pressure at 10,800 (LUP) That may have been the data I used when we set up the press, which was probably around the date of this Reloading Guide.)

Thanks for any input ...!!

I don't load 20 ga. My first thought upon reading your load was that most 20 ga data uses slower powders......I went and looked at some of my paper sources......Sure enough- most 20 ga loads use slower powders but there are listed loads using AA hulls and other wads with slightly heavier charges and other hull/wad combos using much heavier charges of 700x. Current AA hulls are different in design than the old AAs but they are supposed to use identical data so I think that you should follow your proven recipe.

Use up your powder. Seems like I remember using 700X on some 20 gauge 30+ years ago .You can probably find an old recipe that matches it. I currently use Green Dot in my 3/4oz 20 gauge AA shells. Really cold weather makes them a bit poofy, but I generally don't leave them in a sub-zero vehicle before I shoot them.

Then keep on. The fact someone stopped listing it in their published data didn't change the characteristics of the primers, powder, hulls, wads or shot.

20 gauge 2 3/4"

Mec 1973 bushing guide lists 7/8 oz, 700X - 12.7 gr , 2 3/4 shells. NO Hull Brand listed. Using a plastic wad.

1999 IMR has a Rem primer 209P , 700X - 13.0 gr, 7/8 oz shot, in a WAA hull , showintg 1160 fps and pressure of 11,800 PSI. RXP 20 wad.

Thanks for all the replies so far guys..! This board is great in that you can post a question and have an answer shortly!
Once I couldn't find any current data on 700X loads with those components, I started doing some searching and everything I ran across
said 700X was dangerous to use in 20 ga...?? I just wondered how I missed that in the last 30 years...
