Does anyone know if there are any retailers of 80% doublestack 1911 frames? I googled for a bit but haven't found anything conclusive. I'm interested in building my own 1911 from scratch.

80% means all machining is done and no external parts are installed.
Lapping and fitting will need to be performed.
If Caspian isn't selling and 80% frame and I was still under the impression that they were, then the external parts, i.e. plunger tube, stock bushings, have been already installed.
So much the better and less hassle for the builder.

80% means that 80% of the machining is done, typically you finish the rails and maybe a hole or two. It is the frame that is the gun not the parts that get hung on it so 80% means 80% of the frame only

I recently bought a Caspian frame and it had NO parts installed. But it was not an 80% frame. As noted, 80% means that the machining is only 80% complete and the chunk of metal has not been stamped with a serial number and deemed to be a "firearm."
