I was reading a thread here awhile back about taking surplus 8mm ammo(very cheap righht now!),pulling the bullet and replacing it with a newer, modern configuration for improved accuracy.
Now to take this to next level, how about pulling the bullet and dumping the powder and replacing it with a more modern one?Would modern powders work with berdan primers?Pros or cons?Anyone try this? What powder load?
Just thinking on a rainy Sunday morning, hoping for the sun to peek out long enough to shoot some holes in paper!

For my way of thinking, I would just shoot up the stuff, it makes great practice ammo. A lot of the mil surp stuff is Berdan primed, and not reloadable anyway.

If you want to reload, by all means, go to MidWay, or another supply house, and buy new brass. Bullets are not expensive, and if you keep poweder loads reasonable, you should get many reloads from the brass.

When you have finally found the load you like, bullet, powder, primer, case, combination, then you will have the reloading expertise to make some really nice ammunition.
