9mm brass problem

I was going to ask where you got the brass. I have loaded thousands of 9mm luger and have never seen anything like that. I haven't read about that before either. I don't doubt you, I just think that it is amazing that you got that many from only 500 pieces of brass. I don't suppose you know where that guy got the brass? It doesn't really matter, I just want to avoid where ever it came from

Actually, it was from only 147 pieces. I will ask him where they came from so I never go there either...:what:

It happened again, but this time it was a controlled cirucmstance. I picked up a hand full of WW I found at the range, took it home, resized it, and guess what, it wouldn't hold a bullet. I'm guessing it is probably some old fart, like myself, that has a gob of this old factory stuff who knows it is worthless after it's factory firing, and just leaves it where it falls. I measured it and the walls are thinner and don't seem to have the tapered walls like Win., R.P., FC, and Speer headstamped brass?

Did you have trouble with the primer? I have loaded about twenty of these, and had no problem. However, I was the lucky one to mess with the crimped primer. First reload.

The W-W cases I had did not have crimps in them, so the primers went right in. WCC brass I have seen have the primer crimps on them, so I have set them aside for now.

Mine also have the correct taper.

Is it possible that someone trimmed it to make 9MM Makarov. Check the OAL. My first sizing die in 9X19 refused to size about 50% of the brass I had. 9MM brass varies quite a bit.

I measured 3 cases at random and found them to be between .749" and .751", so not even close to the Makarov 9X18mm. I also noticed a slight red primer seal in the lettering.

I have seen cases that were out of tolerance for wall thickness. If the brass is to thin, even though you resized it the inside will still be out of spec.

Just pitch it. Life is short

FWIW, I've had a couple pieces of R-P 45ACP brass do the same thing on me. No neck tension, at all.

I have three .45 ACP sizers. The one with the carbide insert with the largest ID (.465) will not work with thin walled Remington brass. The other two are .461 and .463. I use the .463 for routine loading.
