Hey guys,

I ran across this tonight while I was resizing some mixed 9mm brass. I am familiar with the 40S&W bulge on the glocks with the unsupported chamber but I have never seen a case bulge like this in 9mm. I have loaded a lot of 9mm and this is a first, since I always load mixed brass I have no idea where this came from. Any thoughts on what gun could have caused this? Not aware of any issues with the 9mm in the Glocks.

How do you know it was fired in a Glock?

How about a picture of the base? The firing pin indent might help identify what it was shot in, and the brand of brass can have a lot to do with case bulge, too.

OK maybe I titled this post wrong, I'm not saying it was fired from a Glock, I was just trying to compare it to the well know glock bulge that occurs in the 40S&W. As for the headstamp, I'm not familiar with this brass, it is labeled 9mm Para on one side and then a "Triangle" with the number 92 on the other side of the primer cup

I have seen bulges in all calibers of brass from .380s to .45s & larger. It happens, it could be from someone loading a little hot, or maybe they didn't get the bullet to set square. It could be from a thin wall on the case or maybe the bullet was crimped a little too much.
Getting the case resized to reload is what you need to concentrate on, or go through your brass & toss out any that are bulged.

A picture of the base of the case would be nice as already stated. Who made the piece of brass doesn't matter. Looking for a flat fp hit (glock) or round fp hit on the primer.

S&W shields have un-supported bbl's and will leave bulges in the 9mm brass with hot loads. They have a round fp hit.
These were fired from a shield

The bottom 2 cases had the bulge and were run thru a sizing die. Just wanted to see how bad the scuff marks were from taking the bulge out of the cases. I saved 1 of those and keep it around to compare the range brass I find/inspect. Anything I find that looks like that (scuff mark rings) gets tossed, same with anything with bulges.

Yep it will be going into the scrap heap, was just curious as I have loaded 1000's of 9mm and never seen a bulge like this before. First time for everything I guess, here is a picture of the primer strike as was requested. Thanks for the answers,

Could be a PCC but all I know of fire from a closed bolt and have fully supported chambers. I have seen open bolt sub guns balloon cases like that before. My guess would be many times reloaded brass at higher than standard loading pressure. Maybe an open bolt or maybe just old brass.
