A few more noob AR questions

As of right now I am thinking of getting a Anvil Arms 16" Carbine in 5.56 NATO and then at a later date getting either a 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel in a 20" barrel. Ill get one with iron sights so while I check out several optics, I can just use those. Sound like a good choice?

Go to www.coldwarshooters.com. Check out what they got. You can get complete lowers and complete uppers from them or just a complete rifle or stipped down to parts. There are so many options and not enough money.

That's a great choice. Great way to get your feet wet and go from there. Jon Kruger is good people. You're getting much more gun than you will with a DPMS for the same or less dough. Have you dropped him an E-Mail yet?

Tell him MassMark sent you - he's doing builds for us on another board. He has been very patient with my E-mails and has really guided me in the process of my build - even advising against options that would have med him money! He seems to genuinely want to produce the best possible rifle for every shooter he builds for. I can't wait for mine to be finished...

I have an aimpoint, I love it. If you are buying a factory gun check out the s&w's. They currently have a $100 rebate and sell for about $900 new. So for $800 you'd have a decently built standard ar.

For those interested in a DPMS AR with a chrome barrel, their website says the following:

DPMS offers chrome-lined barrels in the following configurations as a factory option:
20" Heavy Barrel
16" Heavy Barrel
16" M4 Contoured Barrel
14.5" M4 Contoured Barrel
11.5" Short Barrel
7" Short Barrel
Cost of this upgrade is $32.95.
As a note ALL 14.5", 11.5" and 7" barrels have chrome-lined bores and chambers.
