No limit on how many here. If you were buying guns so you had the right gun for whatever need might arise ( home defense, daily carry, hunting, SHTF zombie attack, whatever ), what would you buy? Caliber, barrel length, SA, SA/DA, semi-auto, revolver, maker if you wish, and why.

1) Wilson Combat 1996 A2, full-size gov't for everything (CCW, IDPA, home, etc.). Bombproof reliability, can always find 1911 parts, basic no-frills 1911. With the right holsters (I use Comp-tac CTAC and Rafter S OWB), I can almost always have it with me.

2) Seecamp LWS380 for when I can't carry the Wilson. Just as bombproof, easy to maintain, and I can't imagine an excuse to not have a gun with you if own one. With a good pocket holster, this gun disappears in just about every mode of dress.

That's it, two guns for 100% of my needs. Never without one or the other.

here's my list

I am listing handguns & long guns since I thought out my purchases with specific reasons in mind...

Smith & Wesson 642 .38 spl +p snubby: ccw, home defense

Ruger SP101 3" .357 magnum: home defense, car defense, hiking, scouting, working around hunting camp, range

Ruger GP100 6" .357 magnum: hunting, backup home defense, range

Beretta 92D Centurion 4.3" 9mm parabellum: home defense, car defense, range (my only impulsive purchase, but how often does a NIB surplus DAO Beretta 92 appear?!?)

Stevens M200 .30-06 w/ Sightron SI 3 - 9 x 40 mm scope: hunting, range

Remington 870 12 ga...20" Hi-Viz adjustable sights & interchangable chokes and 26" double bead sight & interchangable chokes: small game hunting, slug hunting, hunting camp defense, turkey hunting (a future endeavor), home defense, block shoots (a future endeavor), plunking

Daily carry: Very nice 1911, Amby safety, Memory bump, good trigger, night sites... any one of many. Like my Warrior with the light rail.

AND, 4" Al frame version for when I'm lazy.

Backup: S&W Bodyguard

'Nongun': Kel Tec P32

Belt Revolver: 3" S&W 66

Bear revolver: S&W .44 Mountain gun

Car gun: Slightly less nice 1911

.22: .22 Conversion, Ruger MK 2

Rifle:
M1A Scout Vortex flash hider, Leupold 2.5 scout scope on GG&G throw levers, 2 mil dot Aimpoint Comp3 on GG&G throw levers with Supressor and surefire

Arsonal AK with Ultimak rail and Eotech on GG&G throw levers
Same but with a folder as a car gun

SS Marlin 45-70 take down guide gun

CZ 452 .22 European version (Iron sites and I like the stock)

Savage 99 takedown in .308 with peep sites (Hunting)

SKS for a beat around rifle

Benelli M1 Super 90 with Ghostrings, tube extention, and surefire

870 with interchangable barrels (Hunting or defense) with tube and surefire.

Barret Semi 50

Lathi 20mm

All S&W pre lock
X2 of everything with spair parts.

Just because:
CZ75B, Hi Power, Walther PP

I agree with my friend Green Furniture on the 1911 in .45 ACP~!:)
Personally, I prefer the 5" Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special now that I'm
retired from the law enforcement world.

And, as a BUG- I prefer Larry Seecamps LWS-32, as it fits perfectly in
an extra handcuff case or front pants pocket.

Long arms, I prefer the M4A3 Colt 16" barrel with collaspsible stock,
with a Bushnell or EO Tech HOLO-sight mounted atop a Calvary Arms
mount, that is bolted to the detachable carry handle.

In shotguns, I like the old standby- a Remington 870 with the newer
Marine Magnum finish.

Guns and golf both have about the same approach. Pick the tool that makes the shot in as few a strokes as possible. Just carry the right bag, a Jack Bauer bag that never goes empty:D

Most everything you could hope to accomplish could be done with one rifle, pistol and shotgun. The make and model is left up to personal taste.
