I remember seeing something on the History Channel a while back about that. It was really weird looking, and the narrator said that after some many rounds the barrel would no longer work for shooting around corners.

In WWII the Germans designed a version of the MP43/44 designed to fire around corners, called the 'Krumlauf'

I couldn't find a picture to post but its the wierdest looking think, 30 degree bend in the bbl, and some sort of mirror set up for sights.

I believe Phil Sharpe was pictured in his book, "Complete Guide to Handloading" holding a weapon (German, I think) that had a curved barrel and could shoot around corners. I bought the book in 1954.
