Congrats on a great find.

I too wanted a Model 15 since it was what I carried in the USAF,,,
I found a LNIB specimen with box, tool kit, and all papers for a crisp $500.00.

It wasn't long before I started hankering for a Model 18 to pair with it,,,
This pair started my love affair with centerfire/rimfire pairs.

The 15, being the "Star" of my safe, is named Stella,,,
The 18, being chambered for "Double-Duece" is named Didi.

The 15 doesn't get fired much,,,
But the 18 regularly sees lots of range time.

Same here, the Model 18 / 15 duo is a great pair to shoot.

Stay safe.

Man that's nice. Great pickup OP.

I've probably owned a half dozen Model 18's over the years. At one time I had a '51 and a '53 Model 15/18...not sure which was which now, but I missed a "birth year" gun on both sides. But guns come and go for me. I never seem to hold onto them.

A couple of years ago I found I didn't have a really nice 22 handgun. My wife had a Single-Six, and I had a Heritage Rough Rider, but one was her's, the other was good but nothing special. Since I don't shoot 22's much any more, I wasn't worried about it.

But then my LGS turned up a Colt Official Police in 22 Long Rifle from 1955. I'd heard such animals existed, but I'd never actually seen one. At least I'd never seen one with my "fetish" 4" barrel. I didn't have to twist my arm too hard to convince myself to bring it home.

At first the Franzite grips (plastic) horrified me :what: but darn it they've grown on me. They're just so "period" for a gun from the 50's I'm just going to leave them there.

I just need a chance to shoot it now.

I too have a couple of unfired S&W revolvers. The only reason I don't fire them is because I have others just like them that I do fire.
I just see having a couple of unfireds in my meager "collection" as a novelty, but in a good way.
If you don't want to shoot it, don't.
I have a Pre-17 shipped probably in my birth month and year that is unfired in the box. But I also have another made in 1947 that I shoot instead.
