After reading some of the drivel being spouted by Piers Morgan I went looking for some actual data on the homicide rates of the US vs. the UK and wow did I find some "interesting" stuff. Wikipedia has a list of homicide rates for countries located here. They list the rate in the US as being a whopping 14.7 per 100,000. They say there were 14,827 homicides in the US in 2012. The thing is that number doesn't add up to being a 14.7 rate. Not even close. 14,827 / 308745538 (the US population) * 100,000 = 4.8 per 100,000. Hmmm... I did the same calculation for the numbers given for Canada and the rate listed was correct. Works correct for the UK too. And France. And Guatemala. I still remember a little about math. Every country I checked the math was correct in that list. Except for the USA. Our own CDC lists the homicide rate per 100,000 in 2012 as 5.2. But not our friends at Wikipedia. They have it listed as 14.7.

Ain't it funny how politics affects math. I think I've discovered an entirely new area of math.

X = (PC)*.

* is a Boolean term for a variable that could mean pretty much anything. We all know what the PC stands for and X is the answer I want to get. I just plug whatever number I want into the * position and I have whatever results I need to push my agenda whatever that might be. I'll be just as famous as Einstein with his E=MC² . I wonder what all my formula applies to. I'm guessing it's huge.

Also just for kicks I removed the black homicides from the US numbers to see what I got. I also removed the black population because I wanted to see what the homicide rate was for the rest of America because blacks drive the rate up a lot. The rate I came up with was 2.6 which is right in line with most of Europe. I am NOT trying to make this a race problem. It's a culture problem when less than 13% of the population can drive the homicide rate up to double what it is for the rest of the country. It's this gangster attitude that's driving a huge part of the homicides in this country. I have nothing against black people. I have plenty against a culture that glorifies killers and gangsters. But applying my own formula the rate for black homicides is actually .002 per 100,000. Ain't new math something! Everyone should thank Wikipedia for their diligence in applying the Cee Zee formula on their site.

It could just as easily be a typo (i.e. the author hit the one and the four at the same time).

The good news is that anyone can edit Wikipedia. Log on and correct it.

I've tried correcting stuff on Wikipedia before. Someone changes it right back almost every time. And it's hard for a typo to go from 14.7 to 4.8 or 5.2 (the CDC number). Wikipedia is a "very" political site. I don't care about their politics but I do care about them getting data correct about something I think is important. But just as an example I inserted some history about a person on their site that was totally relevant to everything that made that person famous. They wouldn't have been known at all if not for the incident I mentioned. I changed it 3 times because someone kept changing it back. I contacted Wikipedia thinking someone was deleting my posted info because of their political view. The answer I got back from Wikipedia was swift. They banned me from being able to change anything. I had registered to make the odd correction here and there. Nothing I said was untrue or hostile. They just didn't like the facts and they were facts. It's been a long time but I think it was a woman who made herself famous by making wild allegations about guns in society. I'm not 100% on that but I'm about 90%. It's been too long and I don't remember who the woman was. It was some college professor. Whatever they did not wanting me posting what had made her famous.

Also the number is from a table that is footnoted. Maybe it was the people who put together the table that had the agenda but whatever the case I've seen lots of misinformation on Wikipedia about guns They take the PC line on pretty much everything which I could easily prove but this isn't the forum for that. If you want proof ask me in a PM.

Actually, the "white" violent crime statistics would be a lot lower if the FBI/Justice Department didn't insist on listing Hispanics, Arabs, and all kinds of other violent offenders within the "white" category.
This makes European-Americans appear much more violent than they really are.
How a short, squat, black-haired, Mayan-looking Mestizo fresh from Central America can be considered "white" is beyond my understanding, and I've been infuriated for years by these intentionally deceptive crime statistics. :banghead:
