I finally had the opportunity to take my Star BM to the range today and was highly satisfied with it. Very nice smooth trigger with a crisp break, positive safety action (snic, snic) and no malfunctions through 100 rounds. The ammo that I used was a combo of reloads and new rounds. It is quite accurate and highly pointable. Two to COM and one up was easily accomplished with sights or point shooting at 7yds. The only shortcoming is the marginal sights. That however can be fixed.

Thanks for the news. I always enjoy a range report.

Star made in Spain, right?

Thats right, it's one of the surplus military/police guns imported by Century Arms that have been selling in the $130/150 range. Mine came with two mags, the booklet (in Spanish) and the original box.

Jacketch,

Gotta agree with you. Tried mine out for the first time last weekend. Shot great, no problems using CCI Blazer and PMC FMJ. Very solid feeling. Very good slide to frame fit. Good trigger. (especially after firing a CZ 52 that I got along with the B.) Finish on mine needs help. Thinking about trying one of those cheap home rebluing kits. I don't think I could mess it up too much. May have it parkerized or blued somewhere if I can find someone do it cheaply.

There is a very good article entitled "Return of the STAR MODEL BM 9mm" by Gene Gangarosa, Jr. in this years Concealed Carry Handguns 2004. It's currently in the news stands. Sounds like a pretty good gun.

Looking for Star BM magazines.

Hey,
I'm looking for spare magazines for my Star BM. Numrich has them for $27.85 each :fire: I think I saw them somewhere for $12-$15, but can't find the site. Any suggestions ?

Thanks,

santai

Star mags

Santai.

SOG had them for $12.95 I think. This was about 1 mo. ago so maybe all gone.

SOG still has the mags. I just received 3 of them about one week ago. The price including shipping was approximatelly $50 and all mags appear in very good shape.

I've shot MTNBKR's Star BM quite a bit over the last couple of days.

Last night it was giving some extraction and ejection problems, though, but still, for about $150, that's one hell of a lot of gun.

It fits my hand like a dream, the weight is such that even hot ammo is well controllable, the trigger on MTNBKR's is very nice, and he did some work on the sights that really helps improve the sight picture (not that anything would have helped my piss-poor excuse for shooting last night!).

All in all, had I not bought the P7, I would have bought a BM.

I got a BM from a nearby dealer yesterday , he had 2 grades with the better ones having more finish left ( thats the one I got for just under $160 ) and when I got it home and field stripped it I would swear it is unfired . Very nice inexpensive gun came in a tattered box with manual and spare mag , can't wait to get to shoot it .
