Being new to the reloading game, you guys have been great about answering questions I have had. I have another one.... I have some Federal one time shot rifle brass that is not brass. It is silver in color, (maybe nickle?) and I am not sure what it is or if it can be reloaded. If it can be reloaded, are there special concerns that I need to be aware of? Thanks again for your help.

If it's shiny, then yes it's nickel plated brass. It's perfectly fine to reload as you would normal brass cases. Just load'em up and shoot.

Yes, guys they are shiny. Nowhere on the original box does it say anything about nickle or brass. It is 270 weatherby mag that I bought and shot so I know it is once fired.

The only problem I ever had with nickel plated brass was when I tried to trim some cases with a Redding trimmer. After triming a few cases, the cutter head was dulled to the point it was no longer good for triming .308 caliber cases.

I think the problem was with the Redding cutter heads as I've trimed them with Wilson and RCBS trimmers without a problem.

I love nickel and load a bunch of it. It's especially good when used as a daily carry or hunting, as it doesn't tarnish like yellow brass does.

Ya Grumulkin, I also had to buy a carbide cutter head, cause that nickel destroyed the cutting edge on my standard hard steel one.
