So thanks to @LoonWulf and @troy fairweather, I was made Aware of the sale at ER Shaw. So with that said I ordered a new barrel it is a Savage Heavy magnum chambered in 6.5x284 Norma. Finish Length is 26 inches I had it threaded for my suppressor as well because why not. This rifle has a very specific task at hand that is to shoot game
@4-600 yards. It is my version of a Beanfield Rifle, the rifle is quite sentimental to me as I traded it from Mentor plus I took my first shot @200 yards with this rifle.

Final thoughts on the subject seeing as how I’ve never ordered a barrel from Shaw what can I expect accuracy wise? Thank you for your time

That should be fun, I'd definitely would like to do a 6.5-284 or a straight 284 soon, guess that pre 64 model 70 action would be cool but still think I'd do 280ai on that but never know. I planned this year to order a few barrels from Shaw but this season has been super slow, I even thought to order a 6arc barrel for my cz just to have it.

Shaw barrels from what I've seen tend to shoot pretty good and should hold moa with a load it likes, kinda wish they would go to 4150 steel and not 4140, I tend to prefer stainless then. Here's the first 3 100 yard groups from my Shaw 6arc barrel, just 3 shot groups but you get the idea. Right groups is different ammo and adjusted the scope 1 moa down for one group.

Can’t wait to get the barrel this project is moving right along I ordered a Viper PST Gen II 3-15x44 ffp MRAD scope for it ! Long range precision Hunter!
Nice me and loonwulf are still waiting for the barrels we order, I'm getting a 9.3x62 barrel for my argentine Mauser thanks to loonwulf as a Christmas gift. And he ordered a 6mmarc barrel I think for a savage but can't remember. The 3-15 should be great for hunting and still enuff for long range work.

Awesome! And yes I’m very excited for the scope!

Yep, 3X will give a nice field of view for hunting and I routinely make 500 to 800 yard shots at 15X or less. If I am prone/semi prone,
and have time, sure, I'll dial it up, but the FOV is so limited that it's easy to lose time looking for targets or even shoot the wrong one.

Ive got a couple 2.5-15s and have had 3-15s. So far those are my favorite wideband power ranges when paired with 44 or smaller objectives.....

Great choice on both rifle and optic. I really enjoyed the 6.5-284 i had, and would definitely consider doing another if I had the correct action for it.

If I ever pick up another 09 Argentina action I'm really thinking of doing a 6.5-284 or 284, length wise there about perfect in a 98 Mauser. May have to open the rails up tho, I'm never fond of doing that. Ateast lapua makes brass for both now. It's crossed my mind doing the 284 in that pre 64 m70 action I've got, but may do a straight 280 so no rail work needed.

I bet that would be an awesome build!
Hope it shoots as is, I'm not keen on the stock there like a 50s Weatherby stock with the rollover. Not sure the age dad said no serial number so pre 68ish. Probably has the Santa Barbra action which are fine, could be a fn action if it's early but there pretty rare. Could be worth having jes rebore if if the barrel is toast, so pretty much any Creedmoor and up case would work. 6cm would be cool.

Yeah probably my fault for ordering a wierd chambering and profile

Keep after them. I had ordered a AR-15 barrel without a threaded muzzle a couple of years ago (20" 1:7). Apparently nobody does that. I can't remember the exact details, but after many months and 2 or 3 calls I finally gave up and accepted a threaded muzzle or I might still be waiting. They did comp me a A2 flash hider to cover up the threads.

This thread got me to thinking because I still haven't installed that barrel. I have a RRA upper with a 24" Kreiger that I never shoot. I was going to sell it complete, but I think a better option is going to be switch out the Kreiger for the Shaw and I'll have another service rifle upper. Gotta start shopping for a scope!

Yeah, it's about time I give them another call.... We're still under there expected window but I usually bother them around 12 weeks. Last time they lost the barrel they made me lol.

The 16th of Last month was 12 weeks for me I was just about to call them when I got a notification on my email and lo and behold they’d shipped it
