A snowstorm, an airplane and an old soldier...a lesson in gratitude

For all those who feel the same way I do ...



Bless the troops of the greatest generation. I had two in my family who served, and neither ever said a word. When they were put in the ground the Air Force and the Army, respectively, came to pay their respects (as I understand, is their wont to do for veterans). I was stoic through the funeral, but when I saw the medals laying there, the tears did flow.

My Grandfather's brother was wounded and then went back to fight and was killed in the Battle of the Bulge.

Thanks for sharing the story, gives me goose bumps to think about the hell they went through.

People like that are the reason I served, their bravery and courage were my inspiration and in some very small way I hope it can be considered a thank you for all that they did.

Thank You to all that have and are serving this country.

My grandfather is a WWII veteran. He was 5th Marine stationed in Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked. He never talked about it until my nephew joined up and was sent to Iraq. I was in awe listening to his account of the war.

Great story, thanks for telling it. It blows me away anytime I think of or see any of our great soldiers from the greatest generation. Their numbers are dwindling more and more every day, so let me humbly suggest, if you have an opportunity to thank one of them personally, please do. You just may be the only one who ever has, and I believe will surely leave a great impression that will last for their remaining years. Most any Vet will appreciate a thanks.
