He made some fantastic guns. They were all made to be shot to, not just display pieces, but I doubt any of them were shot other than proofed. Here is Heston holding one while issuing the cold dead hand challenge.

Cecil Brooks was certainly accomplished and thankfully there are many gunsmiths equally capable of producing a firearm as fine (if not better) than him. It then boils down to the taste of the buyer. Nonetheless, we are indebted to Brooks maintaining a tradition of gunbuilding that would have fallen in the wake of factory made firearms. RIP.
